Leadership & Supervisory Skills Training Malaysia (2 Days)
For people promoted into management without being trained for it
Leadership and Supervisory Skills is a two-day programme for new and first-line managers covering delegation, coaching, performance feedback, and team motivation. Redefine Learning Asia designs it for the most common failure pattern in Malaysian organisations — promoting the best individual contributor and giving them no management training — and every module is drilled on the participant’s own team situations.
When This Programme Is the Right One
The symptom: A strong technical performer was promoted and the team’s output has gone down.
Start from the symptom your team is showing rather than the programme name — buying in the wrong order usually convinces leadership that training does not work. Compare every programme side by side in our symptom-to-programme comparison table.
Learning Outcomes
- Participants delegate against outcomes rather than either dumping tasks or quietly doing the work themselves.
- Feedback is given using a structure that separates observed behaviour from personal judgement.
- Participants can run a coaching conversation rather than only issuing instructions.
- Each participant leaves with a plan for one specific underperforming or disengaged team member.
Programme Agenda
| Time | Module | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1, 9.00am – 10.30am | From doing to leading | The identity shift, and the specific behaviours that have to stop when someone becomes a supervisor. |
| Day 1, 10.45am – 1.00pm | Delegation | Matching task to capability, briefing for outcomes, and setting check-in points that are not micromanagement. |
| Day 1, 2.00pm – 5.00pm | Performance feedback | A structured model, drilled repeatedly on the participant’s own real cases with facilitator correction. |
| Day 2, 9.00am – 11.00am | Coaching conversations | Asking rather than telling, practised in triads with an observer role. |
| Day 2, 11.15am – 1.00pm | Motivation and retention | What actually drives discretionary effort, and the supervisor behaviours that quietly destroy it. |
| Day 2, 2.00pm – 4.30pm | Difficult team member lab and close | Each participant works a real case to a written action plan, coached live. |
Activities
Delegation audit
Participants list what they are still doing themselves and classify why — capability, trust, or habit.
Feedback drill
Rapid repeated rounds of structured feedback on real cases until the structure becomes automatic.
Coaching triads
Coach, coachee, and observer rotating, with the observer giving structured feedback on the coaching itself.
Real-case action plan
A written plan for one named underperforming team member, reviewed by the facilitator before close.
