Communication Team Building Malaysia: Connect & Collaborate Workshop
Gamified challenges that surface how your teams actually communicate
Connect & Collaborate is a one-day experiential communication team building workshop that uses gamified simulations to surface and fix cross-department communication gaps. Redefine Learning Asia runs three signature challenges — the Communication Grid (blindfolded navigation on precise verbal instructions), the Strategic Blueprint (a cross-team information puzzle with assigned broker, strategist, and builder roles), and a multi-team resource-trading negotiation — each followed by a structured debrief that translates the behaviour back to the workplace.
When This Programme Is the Right One
The symptom: Departments talk past each other — information exists, but it never crosses the silo wall in time.
Start from the symptom your team is showing rather than the programme name — buying in the wrong order usually convinces leadership that training does not work. Compare every programme side by side in our symptom-to-programme comparison table.
Learning Outcomes
- Communication silos become visible in the first challenge — teams watch information fail to cross role boundaries in real time.
- Participants practise active listening, intent-driven messaging, and non-verbal decoding under genuine time pressure.
- Cross-functional groups align and make collective decisions under shifting priorities without a formal authority structure.
- Teams leave with named action commitments on how information will move between departments differently.
Programme Agenda
| Time | Module | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| 9.00am – 9.30am | Icebreaker and synergy alignment | Team formation and the Human Telegraph warm-up; setting psychological safety and open-communication ground rules. |
| 9.30am – 10.30am | Challenge one: the Communication Grid | Mini-lesson on communication filtering, then blindfolded navigation where teams succeed only through precise spatial instructions and active listening. |
| 10.45am – 12.30pm | Challenge two: the Strategic Blueprint | A cross-team information exchange puzzle with assigned roles — Information Brokers, Strategists, Builders — that recreates departmental silos and forces teams to break them. |
| 12.30pm – 1.00pm | Morning debrief | Facilitated reflection on communication bottlenecks, assumptions, and clarity of intent observed during the morning. |
| 2.00pm – 3.45pm | Challenge three: negotiation and consensus | Multi-team resource trading under shifting priorities and deadlines — influence without authority, listening, and alignment. |
| 4.00pm – 4.45pm | Experiential debrief and commitments | Translating the day's lessons to the workplace; awards for Best Synergy and Most Effective Communicators. |
| 4.45pm – 5.00pm | Evaluation and close | Evaluation, group photo, and close. |
Activities
The Communication Grid
Blindfolded navigation on verbal instructions alone — a direct, sometimes uncomfortable test of instruction clarity and listening.
The Strategic Blueprint
No team holds complete information; brokers, strategists, and builders must move it across team lines to finish. Exactly like the office, by design.
Resource-trading negotiation
Teams trade resources under deadline pressure while priorities shift mid-game — practising influence without authority.
Structured debriefs
Every challenge ends with a facilitated debrief linking observed behaviour to specific workplace patterns.
