Amazing Race Team Building is a one-day outdoor programme in which mixed-department teams complete a sequence of checkpoint challenges across a mapped route under time pressure. Redefine Learning Asia designs the route and challenges around the client’s stated objective — usually cross-functional collaboration — and each challenge is debriefed so the behaviour transfers back to the workplace rather than staying on the field.

Programme Agenda

8.30am – 9.00am	Registration and team formation	Participants are deliberately assigned to mixed-department teams rather than sitting with their own function.
9.00am – 9.45am	Context setting	Facilitator frames the business objective, the rules, the safety brief, and what will be observed during the day.
9.45am – 12.30pm	Race stage one	Five to seven checkpoint challenges mixing physical, strategic, and problem-solving tasks. Facilitators observe and record team behaviour.
12.30pm – 1.30pm	Lunch	Teams stay in their mixed groups — informal cross-department conversation is part of the design.
1.30pm – 3.30pm	Race stage two	Higher-difficulty checkpoints requiring negotiation between teams, not just within them.
3.30pm – 4.30pm	Structured debrief	Facilitator replays observed behaviour: where communication failed, who emerged as a leader, what teams did when the plan broke.
4.30pm – 5.00pm	Action planning and close	Each participant writes one specific cross-department commitment. Collected and shared with the sponsor.

Activities

Checkpoint navigation

Teams decode clues to locate the next station. Rewards planning over speed — teams that sprint without reading usually finish last.

Resource trade

Each team is given incomplete materials and must negotiate with rival teams to finish. The point is that competition and cooperation coexist.

Blind construction

One member sees the target, the rest build it. A direct test of instruction clarity and listening discipline.

Pressure puzzle

A timed problem with a deliberately misleading first approach, to surface how the team handles being wrong.

Final assembly

All teams contribute a component to one shared outcome, so the day ends cooperatively rather than with a single winner.

This programme is structured as HRD Corp claimable training under SBL-Khas — certified trainer, documented learning outcomes, minimum contact hours, attendance records, and a completion report formatted for your claim. The grant must be approved at least 14 calendar days before the training date under Employer’s Circular No. 2/2026, so book three to four weeks ahead. Amazing Race Team Building FAQs

Moderate by default — walking between checkpoints and light physical tasks. The difficulty is scoped to the group before confirmation, and every route includes a lower-intensity alternative path so participants with mobility limitations or health conditions can take part fully rather than spectate.

Every outdoor programme is designed with an indoor or sheltered contingency built in before the day, not improvised on the morning. Checkpoint challenges are chosen so the majority can be relocated under cover without losing the learning objective.

It is claimable because of how it is structured, not how it looks. The programme carries defined learning outcomes, facilitator observation records, a structured debrief, and a completion report. A route with no debrief and no documented outcome is a recreational outing and would fail an HRD Corp claim.

Between 40 and 120 participants is the sweet spot — enough teams for genuine inter-team dynamics, small enough that the debrief stays personal. It runs from 20 to 500.
